How to Get Free Museum Passes for a Family Day Trip

Looking to stay close to home for vacation? Take a family Day Trip or weekend outing! Visit your local Library and check out the Free Passes to Museums, Zoos and other entertainment venues in your area! You can pack a picnic or brown bag lunch, and save quite a bit of money, while soaking up culture and tidbits of information!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Library Card
  • Calendar
  • Transportation
  • Sense of Adventure
  1. Step 1

    Register and obtain a Library Card from your local library.

  2. Step 2

    Call or visit your local library and ask whether they offer Free Museum Passes that can be reserved and checked out for the day. Most offer Free passes to surrounding area Museums or Parks, that are valid for 2-4 people.

  3. Step 3

    Pick an available date, and reserve your Free Pass. Pack a picnic or brown bag lunch to save expenses!

Tips & Warnings
  • In Connecticut, examples of passes available from my Library include: Beardsley Zoo; Trolly Museum; Discovery Museum; Florence Griswold Museum; Harriet Beecher Stowe Museum; Imaginations; Lutz Children's Museum; Springfield Museum; Wadsworth Atheneum; Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum; Basketball Hall of Fame; Mystic Acquarium; Mystic Seaport; Peabody Museum; Roaring Brook Nature Center; Roger Williams Zoo; Mashentucket Museum
  • Don't forget to return the Free Pass in a timely manner to avoid Late Charges!
