Ever see those annoying little fruit flies milling about in your kitchen? They probably hitched a ride home with you on some of your produce from the supermarket. Before you run out and buy a can of pesticide (which you don't really want to spray around your food!) try a homemade pest control that is simple and easy to use. The following tips will show you how to take care of the fruit flies and keep them from running your kitchen.

From Quick Guide: Get Rid of Fruit Flies
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • plastic spray bottle, rubbing alcohol

Making and using the fly spray

  1. Step 1

Purchase a plastic spray bottle from a hardware or home improvement store.

  2. Step 2

Fill the spray bottle with rubbing alcohol.

  3. Step 3

Spray the alcohol at the fruit fles. The alcohol may not kill them, but it will knock them down and allow you to dispose of them any way you see fit.

  4. Step 4

Wash off any part of the kitchen or house that you sprayed with alcohol.

Tips & Warnings
  • Quickly scoop up the downed flies, they'll try to fly again as soon as they hit the ground
  • Don't spray the alcohol at or near other people or pets! That will sting their eyes badly!
