Tips & Warnings
Ideas for unique planters:
old ice skates, planted with bright blue lobelia, strung together and hung over a railing
birds nests planted with allysum and slightly hidden in a shady spot
baskets; line with newspaper and add lots of blooming marigolds for a sunny spot, or impatients or begonias for shadier locations
Prescription bottles filled with small herbs, like thyme or lavender (drill holes in bottom!)
Baby shoes
old lunch boxes
coffee cans
toys - lego blocks, rubber duckies, tea sets...
old purses (again, line with newspaper)
old spatterware coffeepots (drill holes in bottom)
Boots, singles or pairs - great at the front door step!
Be prepared to use your drill-everything must have holes for drainage!
Make sure the plants have some room for growing roots.
Pay attention to the plant's needs for sun or shade.
