How to Manage an Entertainer

Managing an entertainer can be very challenging and demand a lot of your time. It is a demanding job that requires you to be pushy. Be prepared to develop contracts or agreements. You may be required to sign a few with each job you get your entertainer.

1. Find the entertainers you want to manage. If you see singers or dancers performing and would like to become their manager, then ask them if they need a manager.

2. Agree on payment. Discuss how much percentage you would get from each performance and each gig. A contract should be developed and agreed upon so that there is no misunderstanding.

3. Make sure you believe your entertainers are good. This will help you promote them successfully.

4. Contact the type of venues that would hire your entertainers, such as a club or a performance hall.

5. Search for tryouts for plays or shows that are going on around town or in nearby cities.

Tips & Warnings

• Be assertive. Many times a club owner or manager (for example) will tell you no, but if you keep insisting and explaining how good your entertainer is, they may grant a try-out.

• Never underestimate the talent of your entertainer.
