You will need you friend's Wii number or friend code. No matter what you call it, it's the 16-digit number found in the address book of the Wii console.

Go to the Wii address book and click register. Select Wii and enter your friend's Wii code. Then hit OK. Next add a nickname for your friend.

Check to make sure that everything is entered correctly, then hit OK. If you get an error message, check the number to make sure it is entered correctly.

Now your friend will have to add your Wii number to their Wii console. Once they have done this, then you can send emails and Miis through the Wii console to each other.

When playing a Wii game, search for how to connect to the Nintendo WFC to play with friends online. The game will show you which friends are registered to play the game. Coordinate with friends on when is a good time to meet and play online.

When you have a new message, your Wii console will glow a bright blue.
It usually takes about 30 minutes to an hour after adding a friend for the Nintendo servers to recognize it. So playing immediately after adding each other might not be possible.
