Instructions

  1. How to Identify Hellp Syndrome

    • 1

Notice that pain. Do not over-look that radiating pain around your stomach and upper right abdominal area. You need to pay particular attention to any unusual pain in this area, talk to your doctor about it.

    • 2

Go away sickness. With pregnancy there will most certainly come a measure of nausea and vomiting. However, if you notice your symptoms are steadily increasing beyond normal get it checked out.

    • 3

Keep an eye on your blood pressure. With each doctor’s visit, your blood pressure continues to climb higher, even with preventive measures in place. Hypertension is serious. Your doctor will want to monitor your elevated blood pressure more often.

    • 4

Reduce your salt intake. Again, with pregnancy some swelling of the extremities is normal. Do not take for granted that your abnormal swelling symptoms are routine to pregnancy or diet.

    • 5

Visit your doctor. Your doctor will perform certain tests to help to identify a cause for your symptoms. These tests include, red blood cell count, bilirubin level, which breaks down red blood cells. A series of liver function test, platelet count and your urine tested for excessive protein.

    • 6

Start your treatment. After getting your Hellp syndrome diagnosis, treatment will start. Treatment such as bed rest, antihypertensive medications to reduce elevated blood pressure, and in some cases hospitalization to monitor fetal stress and health.
