Good childcare can be tough to find, unless you know the right places to look.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a computer
  • your local newspaper

When it's time to find a nanny...

  1. Step 1

Check your local newspaper. Its classified section will probably have at least a few ads from nannies or au pairs looking for work in your area, especially if you live in a larger city or metropolitan area. You can also place your own ad seeking a child care professional.

  2. Step 2

Call your local day care center. Since both nannies and day care centers are in the child care industry, your local day care center might have a good lead on a nanny looking for work in your area. It's worth the call.

  3. Step 3

Search Craigslist. This online classified service always has advertisements for nannies looking for work all over the United States. And, like your local newspaper, you can place your own ad in search of a nanny.

  4. Step 4

Use and agency. There are plenty of employment agencies that speialize in bringing nannies to the doors of Americans. You can find a good list at the 4 Nanny website.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always check your potential nanny's references! This person is going to be around your children all the time, maybe even more so than you will be. You should know as much about them as possible.
