Instructions

  1. Instructions for Rebuilding a Roomba Battery

    • 1

Take the lid off of the battery pack by wedging the screwdriver under each end in turn and prying until it pops off.

    • 2

Unplug the batteries from the pack housing and remove the battery pack. Take off the plastic.

    • 3

Lay the batteries out on a flat surface and look at the way the wires run. Lay out your new batteries alongside the old.

    • 4

Systematically transfer the original terminals, PTC and varistor to the new battery packs and solder in place.

    • 5

Test each cell, to be sure you have no dead batteries, and tape the two C-cell size packs together.

    • 6

Fit the new battery pack into the housing, plug it in and replace the cover.

    • 7

Charge your battery pack for at least two to four hours, then test. Your Roomba should run as good as new.

Tips & Warnings

  • An apparent manufacturer’s defect in the Roomba battery has the terminals in the PTC touching. When you rebuild, you can isolate this flaw and correct it.

  • Hacking into your Roomba in this manner can void your warranty in a hurry, so don’t do it unless your Roomba is otherwise in perfect working condition.
