"Green," or environmentally-friendly products are all the rage right now. They are much better for our environment, endorse recycling, and don't contain artificial materials. Some major companies are starting to create offshoot companies that are green, and other lesser known companies are selling their own green bath and body products. You need a good deal of information about what each company stands for before stocking your bathroom full of green body products.

How to Find Green Body Products

  1. Step 1

Start by searching for products in organic markets or health food stores. These types of shops tend to choose legitimate brands of green products to stock their shelves. This will help you get an idea of what's out there in terms of natural body products.

  2. Step 2

Check online for lesser known stores and grassroots companies. There are some new companies that have their own individual shops, but aren't featured in larger stores.

  3. Step 3

Understand exactly what you are looking for in a green body product. Once you locate several sources for green products, do some comparisons. What makes each brand "environmentally friendly?" Investigate which companies use little or no packaging of their products, use fair trade or organic products in their production, and steer clear of additives or preservatives.

  4. Step 4

Make your purchasing decision based on if the product meets your needs as a body product, how environmentally friendly the product is, what the toxicity level of the product is, and naturally, the price and quality of the product. You may also want to factor in how convenient the product is to purchase. Will you get it in time if you are ordering it online, or do you need to choose a product that is carried in a store near you?

Tips & Warnings
  • Try making some of your own bath and body products. This will ensure that everything that goes into them is environmentally friendly!
  • Investigate the bath and body products' company. Find out what they stand for, and why they chose to make green products. You are probably better off choosing a company that is lesser known, but makes its own goods, than a major company that jumped on the 'green bandwagon' recently.
  • Beware of companies which claim to provide 'green' products, but refuse to give an ingredient list. Most true green companies will gladly tell you all the nature-made ingredients that go into their bath and body products.
