How to Get an Internship at Amnesty International
Amnesty International offers an assortment of internships in a variety of places. Their offices span across the U.S. from New York to Los Angeles. Each program offers different opportunities, but most of the requirements are the same. By taking a look at the large program in Washington, D.C., students can get an understanding of what they need to do to get an internship with Amnesty International.

Choose an internship program. In the D.C. offices, there are 16 different programs to pick from, including government relations, the Darfur campaign, child soldiers, and a national training program.

Read current events. You will be expected to have general knowledge of human rights issues around the world.

Practice teamwork. The internship for Amnesty International requires people work together to achieve a greater goal.

Take notes. You will be expected to be detail-oriented and remember important information on the fly.

Clear your schedule. Interns are required to work at least 35 hours a week, for at least 12 weeks.

Clean the lint off your good suit. Interns are expected to dress professionally.

Write a cover letter. Amnesty International wants you to include information about which program you are interested in, and why. Also mention when you will be available to complete the internship.

Send in your resume.

Include a writing sample. According to Amnesty International, a recent term paper will do.
