There are many methods and applications for installing shelves, and they are all fairly easy. They come in a range from simple “L”-shaped brackets to multi-shelf shelving units. Instructions

    • 1

Measure the distance between the bottom of the shelf side to the top. Mark that measurement on the brackets.

    • 2

Cut the brackets to length with the hack saw.

    • 3

Draw a (vertical) plumb line 1½ inches from the front edge of the shelf side. Do the same from the back edge (or out from the corner if attaching it to the wall).

    • 4

Place the bracket on that plumb line and secure it to the shelf side with the nails that came with the brackets. Take care not to strike the bracket too hard with the hammer.

    • 5

Locate the desired place on the bracket and install the shelf clips that came with the brackets accordingly.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always wear safety glasses.

  • Place the brackets on a solid surface, such as a table, to better cut them to length.

  • Use the needle-nose pliers to hold the tack in place. This makes securing the bracket to the shelf side easier and protects fingers as well.

  • Do not overload shelves, as this could cause injury.
