    1. How to Identify Tongue Fungus

      • 1

Pay attention to your mouth. Tongue fungus, or Oral Thrush as it is more commonly called, is not limited to the tongue. Check for white spots on the insides of your cheeks.

      • 2

Look closely at your tongue. Is it covered, or are there patches of, a white substance? If so, it could be Oral Thrush.

      • 3

Try to scrape off the white substance with a toothbrush. Is it painful to do so? If the answer is yes, this is another sign that it could be tongue fungus, or Oral Thrush.

      • 4

Visit your doctor. If you suspect you have Oral Thrush, go see a doctor right away. If left untreated, it can travel down your throat and even to your esophagus. Your doctor will prescribe a medication that will treat the thrush.
