How to Find Ground Transportation from New York Airports
You’ve made it to the Big Apple--almost. You’re at one of the three major airports and need to get into the city. You’ll have several choices for transportation into Manhattan from each of the airports.

Transportation from LaGuardia

Take a taxi if you’re not traveling on a budget. Taxis are readily available; you simply queue up outside the airport, and the taxi driver will deliver you to an exact location. Expect to pay tolls and to add a tip of approximately 15 percent to the cost of your ride. Travel time will be approximately 20-40 minutes.

Consider the New York Airport Service Express Bus. It runs every 20-30 minutes. It’s about a forty-minute ride with several stops in Manhattan, including Grand Central, the Port Authority Bus Terminal, and Penn Station.

Ride the Express Shuttle USA which will take you to locations in Manhattan from 23rd to 96th Street.

Utilize a city bus (M-60) which will take you to the Upper West Side in Manhattan (near Columbia University) for a couple of bucks. You can transfer to a subway from there. Go to www.mta.nyc.ny.us/nyct for complete schedule and routing information.

Take a taxi, knowing that you will probably end up with a charge of $50 or more. Taxis charge a flat fee plus tolls. Tips are expected. Allow 35-60 minutes

Take a taxi if you’re not traveling on a budget. Taxis are readily available and will take 20 to 45 minutes. You can also sometimes share a taxi with another traveler. You’ll need to ask the dispatcher to assist you with arrangements.Note: When you take a taxi from Manhattan to Newark, plan on an additional $15 surcharge plus the $5 in tolls, plus the tip. This one-way trip to the airport could easily add up to around $100.

Opt for Olympia Trails buses which leave for Grand Central Terminal and Penn Station every 15-30 minutes. The trip takes around 45 minutes.
