Things You'll Need:
- Two sheets of blank paper
- Fancy paper with a matching envelope
- An ink pen
- An initial stamp is optional
- A stick of wax or a wax crayon is optional
- A ribbon
-
Step 1
Brainstorm some ideas about the person who will be receiving the love letter before you actually write the letter. Write the person's name in the middle of a blank piece of paper. Draw a circle around it. Draw a line about half an inch out from the circle. Write down the next word that comes into your mind. Draw a circle around that word and continue. Start a new circle and path for each separate word or phrase. This brainstorming page will give you the main ideas for your love letter.
-
Step 2
Write out a draft of the love letter on another sheet of blank paper. Free write your first draft of the love letter, using words and concepts from the brainstorming mind map you created earlier. Write the first draft without worrying about the flow, the word choices, or how it might sound. This is just the first draft.
-
Step 3
Share your true feelings in the love letter. Express your feelings and quantify those feelings when you write the love letter. Write how much you love the person, and how deep your love is. Tell your love how painful it is to be apart, even if you see the person frequently. Use words to stir emotions.
-
Step 4
Describe how you feel when you touch their hand, or how soft their lips are. Explain in detail how you feel just being by their side. Also describe how you feel when the person is not by you. When you write a love letter, there should be an ebb and flow of words that flow between how great it is to be with them, and how painful it is to be apart.
-
Step 5
Take chances and be bold when writing love letters. A love letter should at the very least sweep the recipient off their feet. The very best of love letters will sustain a loved one for days or weeks, and can be read over and over again.
-
Step 6
Edit the first draft and modify any words that do not flow. Rewrite the entire letter on a fancy piece of paper with a matching envelope. It might be easier to type the love letter, but a hand-written letter shows that you took the time to express your love. Seal the envelope with a bit of melted letter wax or a wax crayon. Use a stamp to leave a letter or image. Tie a ribbon around the envelope for one last romantic gesture before giving your love letter to the recipient.
