Somewhere along the line in our adolescent development we realized that money would get us a lot of the things we want. Somewhere in the area of our teenage development we realized that working for money is no fun because it’s, well, work. The ideal way to make money would be to win it playing fun games. But, unfortunately, it doesn’t always work that way.

How to Win Money

1. Make a bet. Yes, the first, no-brainer step to winning money is to gamble. You can gamble in a variety of places: at home on the Internet or with scratch-offs and lottery tickets, with friends in a betting pool, in a casino or any other conceivable place (just as long as it’s legal).
2. Play the sweepstakes. Many sweepstakes entries grace our mailboxes and email boxes each month. Playing sweepstakes is a great way to potentially win money.
3. Become familiar with the game you’re playing before you start betting the farm. It’s good to watch a few games being played before you join in. If you have the option, practice the game. Games like poker and black jack have definite strategies and a sort of code of etiquette that follows them if you plan on gambling in a casino. Do some research before you sit down at a table.
4. Control your emotions. Don’t get too excited when you’re on a winning streak. Keep in mind that all of your earnings could just as easily disappear. If you are losing money, avoid becoming angry and trying to hastily win it all back. You’ll be out on the sidewalk in no time.
5. Quit while you’re ahead. This simple statement could possibly be the wisest thing muttered in a casino. Unfortunately, it often falls on deaf or disbelieving ears. The thrill of victory is an easy thing to get swept up in, and the enraptured gambler cannot bear the thought of how much money could have been won if he would only have stayed a little longer. Resist this temptation. The only thing that happens is regretting that you didn’t leave the table a little earlier.
6. Collect your winnings gracefully. When you are done winning money, politely inform the hosts that you are done for the day and are going home. Ask for your winnings and leave the room.
