    How to Prevent Increase Appetite

  1. Step 1

Drink at least eight to ten glasses of water each day. A lot of time dehydration is mistaken for hunger causing people to eat when in reality they are thirsty.

  2. Step 2

Eat four or five small meals throughout the day instead of two or three large ones. This is great for your metabolism and should help keep your hunger at bay. Also, do not skip meals, doing so will only cause you to overeat later in the day.

  3. Step 3

Limit the amount of fatty and sugary foods you consume. Fast food may seem like a great way to satisfy a craving, but it will likely leave you unsatisfied and wanting more a short time later.

  4. Step 4

Increase the amount of fiber in your diet. Fiber expands in your stomach helping you to stay satisfied and hunger free for longer periods of time.

  5. Step 5

Eat at home. Restaurant servings tend to be an average of three times larger than a normal serving. Portion control is far easier when you make up your own plate.

Tips & Warnings
  • When you are not hungry do not eat. Eating out of boredom or habit (for instance the must have movie theater popcorn) will only contribute to an increased appetite.
  • If you continue to experience an increased appetite despite lifestyle changes, consult a physician to make sure there is not a more serious reason behind your hunger.
