2. Hit the pavement and begin to collect useful data. It is in your best interest to find out about the people who live in the surrounding area of your future nightclub. The more you know, the better. Find out their likes and dislikes. Find out what style of music they prefer. Find out what style of clothing they wear. Find out the average age of the people who live in the surrounding area.

3. Create a business plan. A sound business plan will be the difference between acquiring sufficient funds from the bank and being rejected.

4. Contact an architect about the design of your nightclub. A skilled architect will be able to build a new location or assess an existing location for the best possible placement of important items such as the bar, main entrance, fire exits, and dance floor.

5. Contact an interior decorator to work with the architect. The two should come together to create the general flow of the nightclub. While the interior decorator can not draw out blueprints, he or she can give valuable input as to where certain items should be placed as it pertains to the interior of the club.

6. Contact a professional electrician to assess the electrical inner-workings of the location. If it is an existing location, the electrician may need to inspect and then rewire any faulty or misplaced electrical wires. Also, if you purchase an existing location, the electrician will need to relocate power sources and electrical outlets.

7. Obtain all the necessary licenses, hire a staff, and prepare to open.

• Find a location that isn't near any other similar nightclubs. Competition can be difficult for an upstart nightclub, and you will want to attract as many of the surrounding area's patrons as possible.
