Virtumondo is a form of malware or spyware that creates pop up ads and eventually will slow down your computer and will even cause crashes and strange messages. It is possible to eliminate Virtumondo and free your computer from this hijacker.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet
  • Software
  • Microsoft Windows
  1. Step 1

Click on your Microsoft Windows start menu and click "run" in the right column.

  2. Step 2

Type "msconfig" when the run box appears and click the "startup" tab on the far right in the dialog box that appears, then click the "disable all" button on the bottom.

  3. Step 3

Restart your computer if you are at a point where you can save your work. If not, you can continue without restart and continue using system configuration when you restart. This will keep many programs from loading so you can focus on the software that is causing problems.

  4. Step 4

    Download the program "VundoFix" .

  5. Step 5

Save and extract all the files as needed and run the program scan. Restart your computer when completed. You should see an increase in speed.

  6. Step 6

Run spybot or ad-aware to clean up any residual spyware or malware.

  7. Step 7

Unistall any toolbars you do not recognize or remember to install using Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel.

Tips & Warnings
  • If these steps do not fix your computer, you may need to reinstall Windows or call a computer repair shop.
  • Never purchase software from any pop up advertising that appears on your computer.

on 6/16/2008 Ms. Midnite, I'm thinking your up as I am. LOL This is a great tip for all of us here on the site obviously. As writers, generally, most of us have several programs opened at the same time, and that can indeed slow down the program and open us up to all kinds of spyware... so thanks for this information. good morning.
