How to Install Nanny Cams

One way to ensure that your children are being properly taken care of is to install a nanny cam inside your home. Of course, nanny cams will need to be strategically placed so that the nanny isn't aware of where they are. However, some parents choose to tell their nanny that they have nanny cams installed in the house to give them a nice warning. Nanny cams are generally placed in a home's living room, kitchen, and a child's bedroom. If any abuse does happen, it tends to take place in these three areas.

  1. How to Install Nanny Cams

    • 1

Visit a store that sells hidden cameras. There are a few spy stores that sell items online as well. Read customer reviews of each device you're interested in to make sure you buy a nanny cam that has been known to work well.

    • 2

Choose a nanny cam that won't look out of place in each room. There are some that look like clocks and air fresheners that won't look suspicious. A wireless nanny cam is probably going to work best and can be so tiny that you can fit it in stuffed animals.

    • 3

Set up the nanny cam in the room so that you can get the best angle and allows you to see as much of the room as possible. If your nanny cam has come with a wireless transmitter, these can easily be placed in your closet.

    • 4

Install the nanny cam, which may be done automatically by the wireless transmitter and recording device. The transmitter will seek a camera within its range and start recording. If it doesn't, make sure that the camera is within the range allowed by the device. Nanny cams will come with specific instructions explaining to the installation process if it doesn't automatically install. Each camera is different but should be easy to set up.

    • 5

Move the transmitter to other areas of the house that are closer to the camera if it the installation isn't successful. The way your home was built can affect the range. Try and put the receiver as close as possible to the camera.

    • 6

Practice recording video before you try it out on your nanny. Record a few hours when you're playing with your child and review what is recorded. If you need to, move the camera so that is shows an area the children are more likely to be.
