If you are looking for a fun way to dress up a window, but don't want something permanent, try this easy way to get the look of stained glass that peels away whenever you are tired of it.If you follow these simple steps, you can have an attractive faux stained glass window within a couple of hours.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • All-purpose white school glue
  • Craft paints (in the colors of your choice)
  • Sponge paint brushes
  • Paper plate
  • Clean window
Step1
Pour a manageable amount of glue onto a paper plate. Apply a thin coat to the window with a sponge brush. Let dry completely.
Step2
Mix a small amount of paint into the glue and paint a pattern of your choice on the window. Let each color dry before layering on a different color.
Step3
Apply a final coat of clear glue over the painted pattern. Let dry.
Step4
To remove, carefully use a razor blade to peel away the glue. Wash the window with soap and water to remove glue residue.

Tips & Warnings

  • Try leaving some glue visible when mixing paint and glue. This will result in a more marbleized texture.
  • To get the look of lead lines, draw out your pattern over the first layer of glue with a black or copper paint marker. Fill in the lines with colored glue.
  • Don't get the glue/paint mixture too close to the edges of the window, as it may not come off as desired.
