How to Make an Herbal Salve for Diaper Rash

Diaper rash is even worse for your baby than it is for you.

Diaper rash is an itchy, irritating skin inflammation that can cause major problems for babies. If you have tried topical ointments, powders and creams and nothing seems to be doing the trick, give this herbal salve a try. It has all-natural ingredients and no harsh chemicals that might irritate your baby's skin. Here's how to make an herbal salve for diaper rash.

Things You'll Need

• Fresh calendula flowers
• Olive oil
• Jar with a screw-on lid

Instructions

1. 

   Fill the jar with calendula flowers. Crush the blossoms slightly in order to fill the jar completely.

2. Pour olive oil up to the brim of the jar. If possible, use a brand of olive oil from a natural-foods or organic-foods store.

3. 

   Set the jar in a sunny window sill. The sun will naturally create an infusion of calendula in the olive oil. The jar should stay in the window for at least one and preferably three weeks.

4. Dip the tip of your finger into the salve. This should be plenty to apply to the diaper rash.

5. Contact your doctor immediately and do not attempt to treat it yourself, if the rash has become infected and has open sores or bleeding areas.
