How to Set Up a Freestyle Rap Session Online
Do you want to freestyle rap with other people? Of course you do! Unfortunately, it's often hard to find people local to your neighborhood to rap with. But that's the glory of the Internet; just by following a few simple steps, you can set up a freestyle rap session online, and rap together with rappers from all over the world (or at least, all over the country.) Best of all, it doesn't cost much, and is surprisingly easy.

1
Acquire the necessary software to have music conferencing online. You will need Skype and Winamp, both of which can be downloaded for free by doing a simple web search for them.
-
2
Meet other rappers. You can do this locally, at rap concerts or online. Frequenting rap message boards is a good way to find other rappers. Start a thread asking if anyone is interested in freestyling online.
-
-
3
Make sure all rappers interested in the session have the necessary software (Skype and Winamp). Pick a time, and inform everyone of when they should be online.
-
4
Select a few beats that you'll all be rapping over. You'll often be able to ask the other rappers for beats, but you should have a few instrumentals in your collection as well.
-
5
Decide whether you'll be streaming the beats, or playing them simultaneously. Streaming the beats will allow everyone to point their Winamp to a specific location and hear whatever you're playing. If you don't stream the beats, each rapper will need mp3s for all beats you will use.
-
6
Sign into Skype at the appropriate time, and open a conference. You should have a conference text chat as well as a conference voice chat with all rappers.
-
7
Start up the beats. If you are streaming the beats, you'll need to let everyone know where they can tune into the stream. If you are all playing your own beats, you may wish to synchronize when you start.
-
8
Rap! Start rapping over the beats, and leave space after a few lines for someone else to jump in.

Tips & Warnings
The more you freestyle rap, the better you'll get!
Don't monopolize the mic. Let everyone have a turn to shine.
