Building Furniture For a Tree House
-
1
Build furniture that's custom designed for your treehouse plans. Many treehouse kit manufacturers also offer additional furniture packages that can be added on. Sometimes these give you the option of several different seating configurations that are custom made to fit your treehouse plans
-
2
Visit a home improvement store or a lawn and garden store. You can furnish your treehouse just like other outdoor patio rooms by using premade furnishings that are already weather-proof and made to be used outdoors.

3
Consult your treehouse plans before using patio furniture. Make sure that the furniture will fit inside of your treehouse before you purchase it. Patio rooms are often larger than treehouses and you might need to shop around before you find furniture that will fit nicely. Measure everything and make sure it will fit.
-
4
Make curtains for your treehouse by cutting a piece of shower curtain liner. Shower curtain liners are made to withstand moisture and can often be cleaned with bleach. It's important to avoid using materials that aren't moisture proof because mold can ruin even the best treehouse plans.
-
5
Install real window boxes and planters in your treehouse. Decorating treehouses with real plants is fun and gives children the opportunity to nurture a plant as it grows. Many treehouse kits come with plans to build planter boxes and some treehouse kits come with them, too.
-
6
Don't forget the art. Purchase plastic vases for cut flowers and decorative wall hangings from the dollar store.
-
7
Buy a scrap piece of indoor/outdoor carpet or astroturf. If your treehouse has a decent roof it's OK to install the carpet by adhering it to the floor. If, however, the floor will be subject to moisture it's best to simply lay it on the floor and remove it periodically to be washed and allowed to dry thoroughly so that it doesn't breed mold or mildew.

Tips & Warnings
If your treehouse is in a deciduous tree (leaves fall in winter), make sure you remove any decorations at the end of the summer. The sunshine can fade the colors and the freezing temperatures can cause some plastics to crack or warp.
Avoid materials that retain moisture or can't withstand the elements. In some climates that means no plastics, as the hot summer sun can melt them. Using furniture that's created specifically for patio rooms is generally safe.
