There are several different childhood games that have been played as a child, but one of the simplest and most popular remains the game of tag. There are many variations of tag as well, including team tag, freeze tag, and TV tag. If you were born in a electronic free home, TV tag may seem very challenging, but for those children who have been exposed to the television, TV tag is a game of fun and excitement.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Sort out how many players are involved in the game. The game is usually played with one “It” and the rest chasers, but you could play on teams if you wanted to.

  2. Step 2

Play a process of elimination game to decide who is “It” first. This can be anything from “Hot Potato” to a coin flip, as long as the game is fair and a person is selected.

  3. Step 3

Set boundaries for where the game is being played. You do not want children running into streets or aimlessly for hours, so set boundaries like a playground, field, or use ribbons to set out of bounds markers.

  4. Step 4

Give the players ten seconds to disperse among the playing field. An alternative is to start everyone on one side and the “It” on the other side as well.

  5. Step 5

Avoid the “It” as much as possible, but if he is about to tag you than to avoid being tagged, you must crouch down and shout out the name of a television show. For example: The “It” approaches, you crouch down and shout “SpongeBob Squarepants” to avoid being tagged.

  6. Step 6

Once someone has been tagged before a TV show is said, then the round ends and a new person is declared “It."

  7. Step 7

Disqualify anybody who repeats a television show that has already been used. This will keep the runners thinking as they are getting chased and make things more interesting during rounds.

  8. Step 8

Play until the game dies down or the group decides to play a new game. Add in different concepts to make the game last longer like score keeping and certain TV categories to keep the game more interesting.
