How to Paint a Verdigris on a Planter
If you want to give your planters the timeless look, the appearance that they had been there forever, you may want to give them a verdigris finish. Things You'll Need
- Sand paper
- Metal primer
- Gold paint
- Shellac in amber color
- Acrylic paint in aqua-green and white color
- Water
- Pain brush
- Sea sponge
- Polyurethane varnish
Instructions

Sand the surface of the bucket using a medium grit sand paper.

Prime it with metal primer.

Paint it with gold paint. Allow it to dry for 2 to 3 hours.

Paint it with amber shellac and let dry for 30 minutes.

Mix white and aqua-green acrylic paint together to create a verdigris mixture.

Add water to the mixture to give it a watery consistency.

Apply the verdigris mixture on the pail or bucket using a sea sponge. Allow it to dry for 1 to 2 hours.

Apply a coat of polyurethane varnish to seal the finish.

Tips & Warnings
If you are using or recycling your metal pail or bucket or old paint cans, puncture the bottom with holes so that water can drain when you use as planters. this way your plant will not die of drowning.
