Living on a budget is a wise and valuable thing to do. However, just because you are on a budget doesn’t mean you can’t afford to pamper yourself. Here are some ways you can pamper yourself without spending a ton of money!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • - Money
  • - Time
  1. Step 1

Chocolate! Nothing tastes better than chocolate when you are in need of a little pampering. Don’t go overboard though! Downing a pound of chocolate in an hour can’t possibly be good for your health.

  2. Step 2

Go out to eat at an inexpensive restaurant. If you need a break from the kids or from every day life in general, go out to eat at a restaurant you enjoy. Don’t go overboard ordering items or going somewhere that’s $100 a plate. Keep it simple and enjoyable!

  3. Step 3

Go to the movies! Bring a bottle of water and buy a small popcorn (or eat before you go to the movies). To save even more money, try a matinee. Feel free to splurge and enjoy a chick flick or other movie you probably won’t get a chance to watch with your spouse or kids. No one will judge you.

  4. Step 4

Rent a movie! If you don’t feel like getting dressed up and going out, rent a movie and watch it at home. Put some popcorn in the microwave and enjoy your movie.

  5. Step 5

Have a night out with the girls! Sometimes it’s helpful to hang out with other women your age, whether from preschool, playgroup, or church. You’ll enjoy some social time with somebody over the age of three. Go get an ice cream or even enjoy an affordable dinner with your girlfriends.

  6. Step 6

Ask your husband to give you a massage! Men are willing to do most things women ask. If you ask him to give you a massage, chances are good he’ll do it and probably enjoy it also. Sit back and enjoy your massage.

  7. Step 7

Give yourself a manicure or pedicure! Remove your nail polish from fingernails and toenails. Fill up a bowl, bucket, or pot with soapy, warm water and let your feet sit in the water. Sit back and relax. Soak your feet for a little while and then dry them off with a towel. Dump the water and start with fresh water to soak your hands. Soak your hands for a little while and dry them off. Put a fresh coat of your favorite colored nail polish and sit back and wait for them to dry. You can watch a favorite movie while you are waiting for them to dry.

  8. Step 8

Give yourself a facial! Remove all of your makeup and wash your face. Use your favorite facial scrub or mask and exfoliate and cleanse away. Rinse your face. Enjoy the fresh feeling a mask or scrub leaves on your face.

  9. Step 9

Take a bubble bath! You can surround the bathtub with candles and light a scented candle or incense. Fill the tub with your favorite bath salts or bubble bath. For an added effect, turn the jets on in your tub (if you are lucky enough to have them). Play some relaxing music in the bathroom and dim the lights. Sit back and relax.

  10. Step 10

If life and kids make it difficult to sit back and enjoy a bubble bath, enjoy a nice warm shower! Take a few moments by yourself (you can have your hubby watch the kids) and let the shower massage your back. Enjoy the peace and quiet and the warm shower! Towel off and dress in some comfortable clothes or pajamas.

  11. Step 11

Go for a drive! Make sure your gas tank is full and you have your cell phone on hand, in case of an emergency. Turn on some of your favorite music and go for a relaxing drive. Avoid the freeways and take routes through neighborhoods or with views of the ocean (if living on the coast) or a lake nearby. Enjoy the scenery and music.

  12. Step 12

Everyone needs to take a break at one point in time. Ask your husband, parents, or in-laws to watch the kids while you take some time for yourself. If you go and go everyday without taking time to pamper yourself, you’ll wear yourself out, both physically and emotionally.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid the high costs of going to a nail salon and give yourself a manicure and pedicure.
  • Be careful using candles when taking a bath. You don’t want anything (like towels) to catch fire.
