Decide which materials you would like to display on the walls of your homeschool room. Some good ideas of what to display are: posters of the earth, a map of the United States, a map of the world, a learning clock, the ABCs, numbers, and the days of the week.

Decide which walls will display which educational materials. Have one section for math, one for science, another for language, and another for history. When the child glances at each section, his thoughts can remain longer on that particular subject than they would if you mixed it all up.

Place material at eye level for younger children. Make sure you laminate the material so it stays clean. Children will touch the educational material and if their hands are dirty, your material will be too.

Avoid overcrowding your walls with too much educational material. Too much clutter will be tiring to the eyes of your children.

Change the educational material for your homeschool at least every six months. This gives your homeschool room a fresh look.

Visit your local schools to get some additional ideas of what to display. Set up a time with the principal or teacher to tour some of the classes in your local school. Ask them for some ideas. They will be happy that you respect their advice.

Try and keep games and toys out of the homeschool room so kids can differentiate between a work room and a play room.
