How to Make a Tea to Help a Baby Sleep thumbnail
Everyone will feel better after a good nap.

Colicky babies have it hard. They cannot sleep, and they cannot tell their parents what the problem is. They--and their families--become increasingly tired and irritable, which makes their inability to sleep that much more trying for everyone. Fortunately, there are natural herbs that can help calm your baby down. Obviously, you should double check this recipe with your pediatrician before making it for your baby, but many mothers believe that this herbal mixture works when nothing else will. In this article, we will discuss how to make a tea to help a baby sleep.

  1. How to Make a Tea to Help a Baby Sleep

    • 1

Boil the cup of water in the glass measuring cup. You can microwave the water on high for two minutes, making sure to remove it early if it reaches a rolling boil.

    • 2
If you are using fresh flowers, make sure they are clean and use 1/4 cup instead of a teaspoon.

Steep the chamomile flowers for twenty minutes. Chamomile has traditionally been used to treat colic and calm fretful babies as well as stressed out adults. You may want to consider having a cupful yourself!

    • 3

Strain out the chamomile flowers. You can catch the tea in the airtight container. The tea will be strong, so you will be able to use this batch for several doses

    • 4

Put 1/4 cup of the tea and 1/4 cup of water in the baby bottle. This diluted version will taste mostly like water.

    • 5

Cool the tea. You can place it in the refrigerator or simply wait until it reaches room temperature. However, it is very important that you do not give your baby hot tea or it can burn their tongue, throat and stomach.

Tips & Warnings

  • Never feed your baby any natural remedy that has not been directly approved by your pediatrician.
