Things You'll Need:
- Patience
- Time
- Resume
- Cover Letter
- Computer
- Internet
- Resources
- Newspaper
-
Step 1
Post your resume on many job websites and have job openings emailed to you weekly for you to examine. This will put your job search in the forefront of your mind as it lands in your email inbox. You can also perform a search directly on the career or business website.
-
Step 2
Ask your friends, family and former coworkers or group members (if applicable) if they know of a workplace that is looking for people to work part time. If you do apply, make sure that you mention who referred you so your work application has a better chance of being viewed.
-
Step 3
Drop off your resume and cover letter in person at some places that are close to your home and you know you would like to work. Make sure you dress professionally or at least business casual when doing so. You can also mail, email and fax resumes, although it has more of a memorable effect in person.
-
Step 4
Join an job search networking group. They can offer and exchange ideas and resources you may not be aware of as well as support for finding part time work.
-
Step 5
Check with the college or trade school you graduated from (if applicable) to see if they know of any part time work opportunities.
-
Step 6
Consider working in a health care setting, as the jobs tend to offer higher compensation as well as the part time work and hours you need. Log on to the local hospital and medical clinic websites to view the current employment opportunities. You can post your application for part time work, as well as your resume, for many different positions.
-
Step 7
Job share with another employee if that is a possibility, or offer to work weekends to make up for the hours you cannot work during the week.
-
Step 8
Check the state, federal and local government job postings. Some of these can be part time positions.

on 6/16/2008 volunteering a few hours a week has worked wonders for some people. I ended up with a manager position at a place from doing just that. And job share, that's something that in NY I've never seen being down, but wouldn't rule it out as being possible. Certainly it sounds as if it worth an inquiry as well as a wonderful way to try for employment.
