Eye Makeup Remover is easy to make, gentle on the delicate eye area, and more economical than commercial eye makeup remover. Fresh marigold flowers are a secret ingredient that cosmetic manufacturers cannot supply. Marigold flowers are potent treatments for skin cancer and sunspots, while it heals bruises and dark circles. Learn how to make your own eye makeup remover at home with or without the herbs.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 tbsp. avocado oil
  • 3 tbsp. sunflower oil
  • 3 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup dried marigold flowers
  • 2 tsp. dried eyebright

How to Make Eye Makeup Remover

  1. Step 1

Combine the ingredients. Find a glass jar with a lid. Pour the marigold flowers and dried eyebright into the jar. Let them settle to the bottom and pour in the oils. Make sure that the herbs are submerged in the oils and not floating on top or the side of the jar.

  2. Step 2

Store the jar. Seal the jar tight and place the jar on your windowsill for four weeks. Allow the sun to infuse the herbs healing properties into the oils. Do not place the jar outside.

  3. Step 3

Strain the jar. After four weeks, strain the jar. Use cheesecloth to cover the top of the jar and strain the oil into a sterilized bottle. Allow the cheesecloth to catch the herbs and let the oil drain through to the sterilized bottle. If some of the herbs drain through the cheesecloth, then strain as many times as needed until the sterilized bottle contains only oil.

  4. Step 4

Pour the eye makeup remover on a cotton ball. The infused oil in the sterilized jar is now your eye makeup remover. Pour several drops onto a cotton ball and sweep over your lips and eyebrows. Use a few more drops and sweep the cotton ball under your eyes and over your crow's feet. You may notice the makeup remover improving eye skin tone immediately after it removes your makeup.

  5. Step 5

Seal the bottle and store. Keep the remaining eye makeup remover in a cool dry place. Use as needed and reseal the bottle to ensure quality herbal properties.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make your eye makeup remover without the herbs or infusion time.
  • You may notice a lighter complexion around your eyes after using this makeup remover. This is the benefit of the herbal infusion, and the results are long lasting. The eye makeup remover works as an eye treatment as well. Apply this before bedtime to work overnight.
  • The healing properties of this eye makeup remover also help with rashes, bug bites, boils, and other skin conditions.
  • For faster infusion, use a double boiler. If you do not have one, heat a pan with water and insert another small pot or heatproof bowl in the center. Combine the ingredients and heat for 20 minutes.
  • An allergic reaction could occur from using herbs. Although this eye makeup remover is safe, rare allergies could arise using any herb. Use all herbs with care.
  • Do not get eye makeup remover into the eyes. Rinse with water if it gets into the eyes.
  • Use a clean fresh cotton ball with every use.
