  1. How to Throw a Superbowl Party

    • 1

Remove or rearrange pieces of furniture or accessories that you don't want damaged. Emotions can run high and accidents can happen. Set out coasters around the house as a way to encourage guests to not place cups directly on tables.

    • 2

Decorate your house in team colors. If your guests favor both teams that are playing, have one side of the room decorated with one team's colors, while the other side can be for the opposing team.

    • 3

Buy plenty of beer and have coolers full of ice to be able to store it. If the beer runs out, you won't want to make an emergency trip to the grocery store. Some areas won't sell beer on Sundays. If so, remember to pick up what you want before the big day. Have a selection of other drinks as well in case anybody doesn't want to drink alcohol. Water, soda, and juices should also be available.

    • 4

Have a big screen TV. If you have a nice white wall, consider renting a projector and have it set up to the TV to have a mini-theater. You could consider draping a white cloth over a dark colored wall to do this as well. If you're planning on having a lot of people over see if you can have more than one TV in the room so everyone will be able to watch the game.

    • 5

Prepare plenty of food and snacks before the game. Ask friends to bring dishes over if you want it to be potluck. Instead of one large meal, consider making a variety of appetizers so everyone will have a selection. You might want to take into consideration the time of day the Superbowl will be played. Those on the East coast may want to have more dinner dishes than those on the West coast. The food should be easy to eat standing up. Have it set up throughout the room for the entire party.

    • 6

Have an area set up in a different room for those that aren't interested in watching the game. Have a TV so spouses can watch a different TV program or watch a movie. If you're going to invite children, have a room designated for them so they can play video games, watch a movie, or have toys available for them to play with.

Tips & Warnings

  • Finish setting up in the morning so you can run to the store if you think of something you need.

  • If you plan to have a lot of leftovers, have ways guests can bring home the foods they enjoyed.
