Angora cats are identifiable by certain physical traits. Angora is just one breed of cat that can be found of about 40 cat breeds or more. If you want to buy an Angora cat breed and want it to be a purebred, then you need to understand the identifying traits that Angora cats have in order to make sure you are actually getting a real Angora cat. If you are fooled, and the cat has more than one breed (or is not even an Angora cat) you can end up spending too much money. Check out the cat first to make sure that it is an Angora cat so you do not end up wasting your money.

    How to Identify an Angora Cat

  1. Step 1

    Check the Angora Cat's Fur:Angoras are long haired cats. Their fur is long, fine, soft, silky, and smooth.

  2. Step 2

    Check the Angora Cat's Head:Angoras have a slightly pointed and small head. It is quite triangular.

  3. Step 3

    Check the Angora Cat's Ears:Angora cats have pointed, triangular ears. They are nearly always erect.

  4. Step 4

    Check the Angora Cat's Tail: Angora cats have long, bushy tails with long fur on them. This might even be the first thing you notice because it has so much fine fur on it.

  5. Step 5

    Check the Angora Cat's Body: Angora cats have long bodies. Angoras have very fine and silky fur. It will have dainty paws and fur in between its toes. You'll notice that it has a small chest that does not stick out (does not have a rounded chest) like other cats do.

  6. Step 6

    Ask for Records:Many animal breeders keep ancestral records on their animals to ensure that their cats are purebreds. Most are required to provide you with paperwork proving that the cat is in fact a purebred Angora. This is done with the help of tests through a Vet. Ask the breeder for records on the cat. Make them prove that the cat is an Angora.
