There's a lot that can go wrong with our skin throughout the year, especially in the summer, because we spend a lot of time outside. Besides sunburns and sun poisoning, windburn is also something that can happen to us, especially if we're spending time out on a boat. Windburn can feel like a sunburn; when the wind whips at your skin, it causes chaffing. Luckily, it is easy to prevent it. Here are some ways to prevent windburn.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • A natural skin lotion designed for the face
  • A skin care product designed to protect the skin from the environment
  • Rosewater
  • Aloe vera gel
  • Spray mister

Step1
Apply lotion right after you cleanse your skin in the morning. Take the lotion with you out on the boat and reapply throughout the day. This will help lubricate and protect the skin.
Step2
Some skin care companies make products that are designed to help protect the skin from the environment. You usually put them on before or after moisturizer. If you know you are going to spend a lot of time outside, it is worth investing in.
Step3
Pour rosewater into a spray mister and take it with you on the boat. When your skin feels irritated, spray it with rosewater and add moisturizer. This calms down the redness.
Step4
Aloe vera gel soothes redness. Apply as needed.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may want to see a dermatologist if the problem persists.
  • Make sure it isn't sunburn.
