Step 1

Months in advance of the holidays get out your calendar and set a date for your holiday open house.
Step 2

Mail out invitations for your holiday open house. This will ensure that your party is marked on everyone's calendars--before their calendars become full with other holiday events. Be sure to list the hours of the open house so your guests can plan accordingly. As you know, the holidays are a busy season!
Step 3

After you mail out your Christmas party invitations, it's time to start planning. Decide what kind of mood you want at the open house. Will it be formal, casual or somewhere in between? Knowing this will help you make decisions in the next steps.
Step 4

Create your holiday open house party menu. Depending on the mood of your party, you can provide everything yourself, have it catered, request that people bring a food dish, or hire someone to come in and cook everything from scratch for you.
Step 5

If children are going to be at your holiday open house, start planning out, and making the necessary arrangements for them now. You want to keep them entertained while the adults mix and mingle at your holiday party.
