Examine your work habits. Do you work right through breaks or lunch? Workaholics often lose track of time or work straight through lunch in order to compete tasks. Workaholics often have to be told by superiors to go to lunch or take a break.

Observe whether or not you work extra hours because you want to. Do you often stay late after your work day should have ended? Do you go in to the office on weekends or your days off? If so, you may be a workaholic. Most workaholics usually put in longer hours than necessary and end up spending weekend time at the office or stopping by to pick up work or complete an unfinished task. They may even take on the tasks of co-workers.

Observe whether you bring your work home with you. Do you bring your work home often? Do you even take your work with you on weekend getaways or vacation? Workaholics are the ones you see at the beach with their laptop, cell phone and/or folders of important work material. They often can't escape their work long enough to enjoy themselves completely.

Listen to your spouse and/or kids. If your family members complain that you're always working they're probably right. Do your kids complain that you missed another ball game, dance recital or school play? Is your spouse upset because you never have time for her. Does your spouse tell you that your work is more important to you than she is? If this is a frequent conversation in your home then you are probably a workaholic.

Watch your thoughts. Does your mind always wander back to work related thoughts even when you're trying to do something else? Do you find yourself always talking about work regardless of what the topic of conversation may be. If the information in this article pertains to you, then you are more than likely a workaholic.
