Peanut Butter as a Chewing Gum Remover

Separate the clean hair from the hair that has been affected by the chewed gum incident. Use a hair clip, bandana or rubber band to make sure that the clean hair doesn't get added to the hair with the gum in it.

    • 2

Put a thick layer of peanut butter on the glob of chewed gum. Massage the oily peanut butter into the chewing gum by pressing the peanut butter into it. Continue mixing the two ingredients in this way until the gum begins to lose its hold on the hair.

      Gum Balls

Allow each bit of the chewed gum to come away from the hair by mixing it with the peanut butter until it comes free.

    • 4

Remove the tie-back from the hair and shampoo the peanut butter from the hair. Since peanut butter is oily, you may have to lather, rinse and repeat several times before the chewing gum removal is complete and the hair is back to normal.

Tips & Warnings

  • Discard the chewed gum as it's coming from the hair, so that it doesn't get stuck somewhere else.

  • Do not eat the gum that has been removed from the hair with peanut butter. Germs picked up from the hands can cause a bacterial infection.
