Finding pottery that you will fall in love with is like going on a treasure hunt. Here's how to find unique pottery, useful pottery and display pottery.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Search. Search for a pottery piece everywhere you go. No matter if you are a world traveler or never leave your hometwon, great pottery can be found anywhere, you just need to look for it. Craft shows are the first place to go for unique pottery. Trade markets are also great, but sometimes require you to buy several items. Beautiful and unique pottery can also be found in at local flea markets and antique dealers.

  2. Step 2

Decorate. Traditionally, pottery pieces are warm and inviting, so your kitchen should reflect that image too. Paint your kitchen walls a warm but neutral color. Unique pottery comes in all different colors, so your walls should be neutral. Use a lot of greenery when using a pottery piece as room decor. The greenery makes the pottery stand out as well as adds to the warm and inviting environment.

  3. Step 3

Make useful. When choosing pottery pieces, your collection should be able to serve a dual purpose. Pottery should be pretty as well as useful. Be sure to notice any warning labels when you purchase the pottery. Due to the paint or gloss, some pieces are specifically for decoration only and some will not tolerate hot or cold items, therefore limiting its use to room temperature only.

  4. Step 4

Displaying. Pottery can be displayed throughout your kitchen in any creative way that you can think of. Perhaps a pottery vase could hold fresh flowers. While not in use, that same beautiful vase can be placed on top of a shelf or in a glass cabinet for display. Shallow pottery bowls are wonderful to hold fruit while sitting on the kitchen cabinet. Perhaps if you own two shallow bowls, you could display fruit in one and garden vegetables in the other. If you use pottery coffee mugs, then display them on a coffee mug rack near the coffee pot. This idea is not only a nice display, but also convenient.

  5. Step 5

Hanging art. If you hang pottery pieces on the kitchen walls, such as plates or shallow bowls, be sure that they are not in a high traffic area in the kitchen. Accidents happen anywhere and it would be awful for your beautiful pottery pieces to be bumped and fall to the floor. Choose the places for displaying very carefully and in an out of the way area.
