Prevent Lipstick Transfer

Wearing a "signature shade" of lipstick during the day or "sexy red" for a romantic dinner is a must for many women. But how do you prevent your lipstick from transfering to your wineglass or on his lips after a good night kiss? Follow this steps for a "stay-put" pout.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Color lasting lipstick like Loreal Infalliable Lip color
  • Lip liner
  • Loose Powder
  • Tissue
  • A make-up sealer product like Benifit's "she-laq"
  1. Step 1

Line and fill your WHOLE lips with a lip liner in a neutral shade close to your skin tone.

  2. Step 2

Opt for long-lasting lipcolor or stains. Apply to the whole lip area. Allow the stain to dry before rubbing your lips together.

  3. Step 3

If needed, blot your lips with a tissue, reapply and blot again. Note that if you used a lip stain, you can skip this step.

  4. Step 4

Apply a clear liquid make-up sealer over your lips. Benifit's "she laq" ($28 sold at department stores) is a good option. This product will discourage your lipstick from transferring to other surfaces.

  5. Step 5

If you don't have a make-up sealer handy, you may apply a little clear loose powder to set the color into your lips.

  6. Step 6

When drinking from cups or wineglasses, quickly lick the edge of the glass (before anyone sees you) before applying your lips to sip. Your salvia help to create a barrior between your lipstick and the glass.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure to fill you WHOLE lip with your lip liner. This will make sure your lip color stays on for several hours.
  • Loreal's Infalliable Lip Color is very effective in it's lasting power and can help you skip some of the above steps.
  • Benefits "she-laq" helps to add lasting waterproof power to mascara, lipstick and eye shadow.
  • Make sure you remember to lick the edge of your glass before sipping. Do this quickly when no one is looking. Choose only one spot of the glass to sip from. This will prevent you from creating too many lipstick smudges on the glassware.
