How to Study for the TOEFFL

You want to go to an English spoken university, but have to pass the TOEFFL first. This test determines your ability to read and write in English and many universities require it of foreign students. Follow these guidelines and it will help you immensely to pass this difficult test.

  1. Step 1

    Before you pay for a test, look at the best dates available. The more time you have to prepare, the better off you will be.

  2. Step 2

    Hire a tutor or an online course that will see what you need to work on the most. Be committed to work with them once a week and have them do standardized tests with you.

  3. Step 3

    Practice your listening skills by watching as many programs in English as possible. Try watching educational programs that have more difficult vocabulary.

  4. Step 4

    Start reading more, which improves you vocabulary and reading skills. Write down vocabulary words you don't know and look them up in the dictionary.

  5. Step 5

    Try writing essays, testing on how well you do in short periods of time.

  • Don't get frustrated if you don't pass the first time; try doing the test again.
  • Don't enter the test nervous about the results.
  • Remember to work slowly and carefully.
