Fruit-based hair products are very popular because they can help with everything from body to moisture to shine. Organic and all natural products are even better for hair because they do not have any processed chemicals that can damage delicate tresses. However, if you choose to use an entirely organic or homemade fruit hair mask, you must understand not only how to make and apply it, but also to remove it. In this article, we will discuss how to remove a fruit hair mask.

Simply taking a shower is the best way to make sure that you get the hair mask out entirely.

Run the shower at a comfortable--but not steamy--temperature. Hair mask removal requires a lot of water, and the easiest way to get an all-over rinse without help is to stand in the shower.

  2. Step 2

Rinse your hair thoroughly with cool or lukewarm water. Because the mask is literally made of food, you should not wash with hot water or you may end up with cobbler on your head.

  3. Step 3

Run your fingers from your forehead to the nape of your neck. Just as you worked the hair mask into your hair by massaging it into your scalp and then spreading it out toward the tips of your hair, you must now work the water through your hair the same way. Particularly if the hair mask is lumpy, you must do this very slowly to avoid pulling your hair.

  4. Step 4

Comb your hair. This will help you identify areas that need more rinsing and also work any remaining hair mask to the ends of your hair. When the comb runs through your wet hair unhindered, move on.

  5. Step 5

Wash as normal. If you desire, you can follow your hair mask treatment with your normal shampoo and conditioner routine. Do not blow dry and style however unless you have no choice. Heat will eliminate many of the benefits of the fruit hair mask if it is applied too soon after the treatment.
