This is a very simple recipe for making homemade pizza. You will need to prepare all this in about 4 hours in advance so that the dough has enough time to rise. You will need 10 x 15 inch pans.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5-lb bag of flour
  • water
  • yeast
  • salt
  • Favorite toppings: cheese, peppers, mushrooms, anchovies, sliced tomatoes
  1. Step 1

For 2 pies, place half of a 5-lb bag of flour into a large pasta bowl or if you prefer you can use an extra large cutting board to knead the dough on. For 1 pie use one third of a 5-lb bag of flour.

  2. Step 2

For 2 pies mix 2 level teaspoons of yeast and 1 teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of warm water. For 1 pie mix 1 level teaspoon of yeast and 1 teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of warm water. Dissolve the yeast and salt completely. If yeast won’t dissolve place cup in microwave for 10 seconds then dissolve mixture. If water is too hot, the dough may not rise.

  3. Step 3

Pour mixture into the flour and start mixing. Add additional warm water as needed to make the dough workable. Knead the dough with your hands, folding and then turning it after every knead until the dough is smooth and elastic.

  4. Step 4

Lightly coat both sides of the dough with flour and wrap in a small table cloth or towel and then place in between a blanket. If you doing this is warm weather then the blanket is not needed.

  5. Step 5

When the dough has risen to about twice the size you started with the dough is now ready to be placed in the pans.

  6. Step 6

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees.

  7. Step 7

Lightly coat the bottom and sides of the pan with a small amount of cooking oil.

  8. Step 8

Spread the dough out in each pan and slightly up the side edges of the pan.

  9. Step 9

Place tomato sauce on top of each pie and spread out using a large spoon. Don’t use too much sauce but use enough where the dough is completely covered. Now place your favorite toppings on the pies.

  10. Step 10

If you are going to use cheese as one of your toppings do not place the cheese on the pie at this time. Wait until the pies are cooked halfway before placing the cheese on top. This will prevent the cheese from burning.

  11. Step 11

When your oven is preheated to 450 degrees, place both pies in the oven.

  12. Step 12

After 10 minutes turn the pies around in the oven so that they cook evenly.

  13. Step 13

In about 10 minutes (total 20 minutes in oven) check the bottom of the pies to see if they are starting to get brown. At this time you can now add the cheese to the pies. Rotate the pies in the oven one more time.

  14. Step 14

Check the pies in another 5 minutes once the bottoms are golden brown the pies are ready and can be removed from the oven.

  15. Step 15

Wait about 10 minutes for the pies to cool down before cutting and serving.
