Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
When driving make it a game to count like objects as you pass them. You can count cows, billboards, out of state license plates, your favorite color of car, or any thing of interest to your traveling family. My kids love to count livestock as we pass them and make their sound. When starting this game be aware that you may here a loud MOOOOOOO at any given minute.
Step2
Make up word or phrases using the letters of a license plate on passing cars. My 5 year old loves this game and has learned allot from it. He looks for cars that start with S or B, so he can make up something about spiderman or bugs.
Step3
My Eyes Spy game can be used for a multiple of age groups to pass time while traveling. One person will see something and describe it. The other people will guess what the object is. Older kids can do this with things that interest them, not just places not associated with what is around them.
Step4
To get a group of kids minds flowing creatively, start a short story and let each one contribute a few sentences to it at a time. This can take up as long or as little time as you would like.
Step5
Sing along with music. Younger kids can have a blast at this. Be prepared for some hilarious lyrics. My three year old forgets the music, so he just makes up his own. Older kids may prefer just to listen to their favorite tunes.
