Build a DVD Collection.
Build a DVD Collection.

Want to impress your friends with an amazing collection of movies and not spend a fortune. Here is how I got my collection of DVDs and saved allot of money.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • DVD racks or shelving
  • An open wall
  • A ton of DVDs
  • Sunday's newspaper
  1. Step 1

Make Room. Find a wall that you would like to use for your collection. Pending on the size of the wall you can have a large or small area for your DVDs. You can also use more than one wall to store your collection.

  2. Step 2

Storage. Find some shelves to keep your DVDs on. you can build your own shelves fit for DVDs or simply buy DVD racks. DVD racks cost a little more but are easier and are not permanent to the wall your putting them on.

  3. Step 3

Grab a newspaper. Every Sunday your local store ads are released. Look for the movie sections of each ad. If a movie is marked down, BUY IT! Look for the buy one get one free. Lots of DVDs are marked down as low as $4.99! New releases come out on Tuesdays. If you can wait on that new release, I'm sure it will be at a much lower cost later that year.

  4. Step 4

Keep it in order. Keep your collection in some type of order. This will keep you from buying the same movie twice.

  5. Step 5

Save the receipt. In some cases you might buy a DVD at a low cost, then find out that it becomes cheaper the next week. You can take it back to the store and get an adjustment for the difference. Also try to not open your DVDs until you watch them.

  6. Step 6

Watch it grow. Before long you will see your collection grow and you will always have something to watch.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make a list of the movies you want
  • Look for box sets on sale
  • TV on DVD "seasons" are fun to collect
  • Look into buying BluRay discs
  • Always shake the DVD case to insure that the disc is not loose
  • If the DVD case has a cardboard sleeve insure that the inside case has not been tampered with
