Things You'll Need:
- A computer or a copy of the Declaration of Independence.
- Time to spend with your family
-
Step 1
Buy a copy of the Declaration of Independence, or print it out on your computer. Take a minute to reflect on the courage of the men who signed it, and explain to your children, that each of these leaders risked being hanged for treason.
-
Step 2
Take your family to a parade. Listening to the band play "Stars and Strips Forever" as the flag of the United States passes by, reinforces our love and loyalty to our country - our patriotism. After the parade, talk about how lucky we are to live in the greatest country in the world.
-
Step 3
Spend the evening in a nearby recreational area camping out. Along with the hot dogs and hamburgers, make sure you include a "birthday cake" or cupcakes to celebrate our nations birthday. Away from the television and interruptions, encourage your children to discuss the holiday, and answer their questions.
