I love to eat my oatmeal with brown sugar, and top with dried fruits. However, my brown sugar turns hard even if I keep it in an air tight jar.
I usually have no patience in morning, so here are five tips to get that hard brown sugar soften again.
If you are in a hurry, put brown sugar in a container, along with a cup of water in the microwave, and set it for one minute. The moisture from the water will help soften the hard brown sugar.
If it is still hard, set your microwave for another 30 seconds.
Step2
Place the brown sugar in a baking pan and put it in the oven at 250 degree for five minutes. If it is still hardened, keep it in there, and check often.
Step3
Place the brown sugar in a plastic container, and put a lightly dampened piece of paper towel on top. Leave it overnight. This should help the brown sugar softened.
Step4
If you know that you are not using the brown sugar for a couple of days, then add a few drops of water in it, and let it sit for a while.
Tips & Warnings
Add a few slices of apple in the brow sugar to soften it
Place a piece of bread on top of the brown sugar in airtight container and leave it overnight.

on 6/19/2008 Good tips, Icy. I love brown sugar on my oatmeal too, and in my hot apple cider. Now I won't have to take a knife to it. lol
