How to Play an F Chord on the Ukulele

The Ukulele is a beautiful instrument that is generally made of Koa wood in Hawaii. Koa or Acacia wood is native only to the Hawaii Islands. Although the Ukulele is known to have been made from other woods, the Koa Ukulele is the most popular. Learn how to play the F chord on the Ukulele in just a few easy steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Place the neck of the Ukulele in the left hand between the index finger and thumb with the strings facing away from the body.

  2. Step 2

    Hold the body of the ukulele in the right hand by placing the right arm over the body. Hold it underneath the center.

  3. Step 3

    Put the left index finger between the nut or string spacer and the first fret on the "C" string or second string from the top.

  4. Step 4

    With the left middle finger, hold down the top or "G" string between the first and second fret.

  5. Step 5

    Press the two fingers down tightly on the strings, and strum all the strings with the right hand in center of the body of the ukulele.

Tips & Warnings
  • For the best sound, try not to touch the "nut" or "frets".
  • The Ukulele Strings from top to bottom are G, C, E and A.
  • The "nut" or string spacer is a guide that holds the strings in place. It is located at the top of the neck of the ukulele. It
  • A "fret" is a metal strip that goes across the neck of the Ukulele.
  • Don't just toss the ukulele around. Be sure to place in gently in its case.
