Begin your research by visiting the political candidate's website to find out what the political candidate’s campaign promises are. As we already know, some keep those promises, and some don’t.

    • 2

Once you find out what a political candidate’s promises are, enter that candidate’s name into a search engine.

    • 3

Since they’re currently running for office, you don’t want the recent news; they’ll say and do anything at this point just to win your vote. Instead, you want news about what they’ve done in the past, so search for archives for as far back as you can go.

Refer back to the list of their current campaign promises to see what they did about those issues in the past.

    • 5

Check all past victories and failures for a thorough track record of your candidate.

Tips & Warnings

  • Consider thinking outside the box of your current political party. There are quality candidates sometimes in all parties.

  • Don't judge candidates too quickly. Some may have tried many paths to success. It's important to look at the whole picture.
