Running a multi item raffle can be very profitable for the organization you are trying to raise money for. One of the best times of year to have such a raffle is around November and early December and the best businesses to ask for items to be donated are banks and mortgage companies. They need the tax write offs and are more than willing to donate some very nice gifts.

Organizing A Raffle

1. Take some documentation and credentials with you and go to local businesses and banks to ask for items to be donated. Keep track of who donates what, so that proper thanks and recognition can be given.

2. Determine when and where you will have the raffle and decide how much the tickets will be sold for. You can give a quantity discount to encourage people to spend more on more tickets that way. For example 50 cents a ticket or 5 for $2.00. Decide whether the winner must be present or not to win.

3. Create signs that give all the information with further details on the items to be raffled. Place the signs in the community, and in and around the facility you are fund raising for. You can also ask stores in the area if they will put some signs up in their windows.

4. Find a safe spot to display the items to be raffled so that people can see what they are spending their money on.

5. After the raffle display the winners names and what they won so everyone will know that the raffle was carried out in the proper manner.

Tips & Warnings

• Prohibit the immediate families and those running the raffle from participating so that no one can be accused of cheating if they should win.
