How to Use Soft Color Pencils

Soft color pencils are a great and versatile way to get professional looking drawings. These unique artistic tools have rich and bright colors which are easily created for realistic looking drawings. Instructions

1. Draw with a pencil what you wish to create, trying to keep things as simple as possible.

2. Begin to color softly as softcolor pencils are quite thick and do not need to be drawn over continuously. Start with darker colors for shading and move on to lighter colors. Unlike with other types of pencils you cannot shade things in lightly with one color to create the illusion of light, instead a good variety of softcolors and tones are used to create the illusion.

3. Move on to the lighter parts. Color each shape and give yourself time for detail. Softcolors are hard to correct mistakes so make sure you do the detailing for each part of your drawing.

4. Add black and darker colors for depth on top of your lighter colors.

• Make sure you sharpen your soft colors with special pencils.
• Do not color too aggressively as softcolor is thick and can easily be broken.
