How to Draw a Rat
Rats are truly incredible. They are also sneaky, crafty, intelligent and a joy to illustrate. Their expressions can range from menacing to delightful and their bodies from pleasingly plump to a scrawny bag of bones. You can draw a rat with a little imagination and a few simple steps.

Draw the rat’s eyeball. You can make him a sneaky and creepy rat by creating a slanted, oblong eye or he can be a friendly rat with a big, round googly eye.

Create part of his head by drawing two little triangles as ears, a matching eyeball partially hidden by the first one and a long snout. Enhance the snout by drawing big triangle for pointy rat teeth.

Draw a curved line from the back of the rat’s head to create the rat’s back and loops around to serve as the tail.

Make a point at the end of the tail and curve another line next to the initial tail line. Add a back leg by drawing a semi-circle nestled near the tail.

Finish off the rat’s outline by adding a front leg and bottom jaw.

Enhance the rat with fine details. These include whiskers, small lines on his tail and paws and, of course, your signature. If you hate the rat, don’t sign your name to it, but somebody else’s so it looks like that person is the one who cannot draw.

Rats are good for placing in a variety of poses, from eating cheese to dancing with a top hat.
